Wanting to be fully initiated in the Catholic Church, I did RCIA where I got a much deeper understanding about the beliefs and about God. |
I was raised in the Catholic faith but my family was non-practicing. I never went to mass nor knew a lot about Catholicism other than what I was taught by my parents. I went to a Catholic school for the majority of my education where I learned more about the faith, but was not interested in having a relationship with God until my senior year of high school. I discovered his love and mercy though the people around me and knew I wanted to fully embrace him in my life.
I chose to come to GCU since it was a Christian school and thought I would be able to grow in my faith here. Once here, I was stuck and didn’t know how I’d go about practicing my faith or what it meant to have a relationship with God. That was until I came across the Newman Center. I felt lucky to have found a place for me to go to. I went to a Sunday Mass where I met Sister Clare and she told me all about the sacraments. Wanting to be fully initiated in the Catholic Church, I did RCIA where I got a much deeper understanding about the beliefs and about God. I felt myself still seeking more of God and found him through the Eucharist. It was at Newman I discovered what adoration was and I signed up for a holy hour. Adoration has had a great impact on my faith as I get to have meaningful conversations and deepen my relationship with the Lord. The people at the Newman Center have also been a great help and joy to be around as they care about you and want to see you there at the Newman Center. It has truly been a blessing to be part of the Newman Center and getting to experience all it has to offer. |
